Founded in 1884 by brothers António and Francisco, Sociedade dos Vinhos Borges quickly became one of Portugal's leading winemakers, through a melding of tradition, age-old knowledge, commitment to the land and a passion for wine.

Borges large portfolio includes wines from the Douro, Dão and Vinho Verde DOC regions as well as a large Port Wine selection boasting vintages back to 1983. The Borges products available in the UK also include the world famous Gatão brand as well as the award winning Lello wines from Douro. Our focus is on bringing top quality wine, port and brandy to the UK to suit many different markets whilst also offering our products at competitive prices. With established markets in over 50 countries worldwide, it is clear that Borges focus is on bringing to the world the best wines that Portugal has to offer.

Gatão

Today, Gatão, Portugal's ambassador to the world since 1905, is one of the most widely appreciated Portuguese wines you are likely to come across. With an emphasis on a light style of fresh wine, this brand is one that is meant to be drunk young and can be enjoyed with or without food. The strong branding has led to awards such as product design of the year in Portugal. Available in a red wine, rosé wine, white wine and a white wine slim can. The Vinho Verde white wine from the green wine region benefits from the influence of the Atlantic ocean and the result is a spectacularly easy to drink white wine.

Lello

Registered in 1913, the Lello brand is part of the history of Sociedade dos Vinhos Borges. The brand’s name harks back to its origins: the Lello family, more specifically Artur Lello and his son, Carlos Lello. Early on, these two joined the Borges family in the management of the company and contributed in a major way to embedding the know-how and art of making good wine.

The name Lello has been kept on as a tribute to the family.

PORT WINES

Borges produces Port Wines whose singular personalities are synonymous with distinction and sector leadership. These are nectars that reflect the dedication and passion of the people of Douro who work the land, the vine and the wine. A world of colour palettes, aromas and flavours radiating out from Quinta da Soalheira. The selections of Port on offer range in style and vintage with a special and rare 1983 vintage currently available whilst stocks last.

BRANDY

Borges Brandies pair perfectly with a good coffee or can be drunk on their own as a digestif. We age our brandies in French oak casks and vats in our cellars, to imbue them with nobility and complexity.

Our premium Brandy Borges 1.5L comes in a spectacularly shaped bottle which is complimented by the taste and aroma of this brandy. The Appearance is a clear, topaz colour, with a noticeable aroma of wood and dried fruit. The taste is smooth and delicate, with a long aftertaste due to the long ageing in wood.
